How To Get Help Caring For Your Disabled Child

It can be very overwhelming caring for a disabled child and it’s important to remember that you’re by no means alone – even if it may feel like it from time to time.

There are many different avenues of support available to you if you do feel as though you need some help looking after your little ones or if you need to take a break to rest and recharge.

Your local council will be able to provide help if you have a disabled child, including care at home, holiday play schemes, respite care services, home adaptations and aids, and financial assistance.

Some services are available free of charge but you will likely find that you will need to contribute to the costs of others, depending on the needs of your child.

In order to find out what you can access and what you’re eligible for, get in touch with the social services team at your local council. They’ll go through your family’s needs, including education, health and social care as part of what is known as a care needs assessment.

If you qualify for services, you will be given the option of receiving direct payments of any agreed-upon funds, which are paid straight to you so you can arrange the various services you need.

If you’re on a low income, it’s also possible that you could access a Family Fund grant, which can help pay for items such as clothing and toys, furniture and household products, and family breaks/days out.

How can Concept Care help?

Here at Concept Care, we provide a children’s care service where compassionate and dedicated care is delivered based on the unique needs of each individual child to ensure that they continue to feel safe, secure, valued and nurtured – even when you’re not there with them.

All our carers are fully trained and DBS-checked, committed to providing the highest standards of care, whether they’re focusing on personal care and daily support, family-centred home care, specialist/medical care and support, or engagement and companionship.

To begin, we carry out a comprehensive assessment of you and your family to understand just what your needs, preference and goals are, after which we’re then able to develop a personalised care plan that meets these requirements.

From there, we will match you with a fully qualified care professional who aligns with your care needs. Ongoing support is provided for as long as you need us, with your care plan reviewed regularly so we can make sure that it continues to meet your needs as they evolve over time.

We understand just how challenging it can be to care for a loved one, child or adult, which is why we pride ourselves not just on delivering a service but also a promise to you as well that we will continue to provide genuine care and support for your family, no matter what.
