What Are Complex Needs?

Understanding what complex needs are can help you decide whether yourself or a loved one could benefit from receiving additional sources of support to help manage certain aspects of daily life, as well as that the appropriate health and social care services are involved where necessary over time.

Complex needs can be ever-present from birth or be something that arises through illness, disability or changes in circumstances as we get older… or a combination of all these factors, where someone’s abilities to continue with daily life, work or education are affected, either mentally, physically or behaviourally.

What are different types of complex needs?

Learning difficulties/disabilities

Specialist care and support is available to anyone with learning disabilities of all kinds to help them lead more independent lives.

Physical disabilities

Anyone with physical disabilities, either congenital or developed later in life, can consider home care services to help them with daily tasks, including personal care, cooking, cleaning, medication, shopping and so on.

Communication barriers

Non-verbal people can potentially benefit from communication aids and care service providers to help them navigate the world around them more easily.

Anyone with complex needs such as these may need help with different tasks, including household chores, dressing, bathing, attending medical appointments, social interactions, moving around and so on.

How can people with complex needs be supported?

Person-centred care is a must for anyone with complex needs – and here at Concept Care, we ensure that all our care packages are tailored specifically with the individual in mind, taking into account their specific requirements and involving their families and loved ones every step of the way.

Our care management system is entirely flexible and personalised, with plans updated as appropriate over time to ensure that only the highest standards of care are delivered.

Often, someone with a primary complex need diagnosis has various other associated conditions alongside, which means that careful planning is required to ensure that the best level of support is provided.

Our members of staff have all undergone rigorous training with this in mind, keeping skills up to date so that high levels of care are provided in line with any new approaches that come to the fore.

Our person-centric approach means that our teams deliver a positive impact on our clients’ quality of life, supporting them with their different needs and understanding in full just how their condition impacts them and their families.

Care provision isn’t just about arranging support… it’s also about ensuring trust and reassurance so that people can continue maintaining their independence while receiving any and all necessary help.

Our personalised support fits into daily life, rather than proving to be a disruptive source. No matter whether you or a loved one just needs a bit of help each week or full-time care with a live-in nurse, we ensure that our clients feel safe, valued and supported no matter what.
